New Template

Well, I did it now! I changed the template on my blog and messed up my links!! If you were on there before and you are not now, I'm sorry. Just comment me and let me know. I'll certainly put you back on there!

I'm looking forward to the new year. Not that the coming of a new year is magical or anything like that. It's just a good reference point for reviewing what's taken place over that last 12 months, revising, and moving forward with some new goals. I have several goals, but my main two goals are to finish the book God has placed on my heart within the next 2 months. If it's God's will, it will happen. (and I'm going to have to get really organized and dedicated!) And goal number two is to be closer to the Lord at the end of the year than I am now. I never want to settle in that department. I've been trying to make it a point to stay close to HIM this week. No better place to be than under His wing.

By the way, go see the Nativity if you have not seen the movie yet. Pretty good! Challenged me to re-read the account of Jesus' birth and study it. Another good movie was Night at the Museum. Actually only one bad word. The movie was clean and action packed. Really enjoyed it!

Dad is healing up rather well. They said that things are looking good and took him off of the wound vac - bye bye Wilbur! (that's what we named the wound vac because it snorted like a little baby pig! - no joke!). God is good. No doubt He's just giving dad more ammo in sharing God's glory with others!

Christmas was a blur for me! Feel like I missed it or something. I blinked and it had already happened! Got some cool gifts! No complaints here. Really enjoyed our family's Christmas moment on Christmas Eve. Overall, it was a success for sure. Church was great Sunday morning too! Candace sang her heart out! AMAZING JOB!!!! Well, I'll post some pictures later! We got some really good ones (especially of Mic!).

Well, more later! Gotta get some things done around here if I am gonna be organized!!!!

Christmas Parade

Last Sunday, we went to the Christmas Parade on Jones Creek. Luke had a blast and taught all of us a little bit about catching beads when he used his face to catch them. After that, he'd just wave and cover his face!

Micki and Ryan seemed to have fun too! Check this "float" out in the first picture. Kinda gives a new meaning to "floats"!!! :)

What a week!

Well, tomorrows the day that will change our family dynamics. We find out if the baby will be a boy or a girl. Amazing how much one little answer can change our family! Our life!!!

This has been a packed week for me. Dad is home now, but please keep him in your prayers for continued healing. He's not out of the woods yet as the doctor puts it. Today I made Christmas candy with my mom and sister. Absolutely one of my favorite days of the year! Tonight was the Pathfinders Christmas Party. It was GREAT!!! Loved it and I just LOVE that entire group!!!! They are definitely family to me!!! I brought my camera, but didn't take one picture! Brilliant - I know!!!

I feel like we've been on a Christmas marathon lately. I guess that is to be expected. I am excited about this weekend coming. I loving spending time with family and seeing friends. I have about 3-4 gifts left to buy and then I'm finished. Next year, I am thinking about making it easy on myself and making a donation to Children's Cup and sending a letter out to everyone saying their gift is making a child in Africa's day! We'll see. At any rate, I think that's what I'll ask for me to receive instead.

I have a bunch of pictures from the Christmas Parade and the Sparkle Christmas party, but I'll post that tomorrow! I'm outta here for tonight!!!

Brave Hearts!

"You'll never do a whole lot unless you're brave enough to try."
-Dolly Parton

I can just hear her saying that in that country voice of hers, but how true is that statement. I've noticed that the bible has a lot to say about being brave and not fearing (and fear too). For me, I want to be like Leah Fox who was the first woman ever to receive a Purple Heart for duty on Pearl Harbor (Dec 14th, 1941). I noticed there was not a lot written about her other than she was a captain and received the Purple Heart for helping those with wounds and the wounds she received herself.

God help me to be a brave heart in Your kingdom. Help me to spread love and wisdom as You call me to! Give me boldness and courage!

Also, please keep my dad in your prayers. I'll post more on this later, but he had surgery on Monday and has a lot of recovering to do from the damage they found in his foot.

Quote of the Day

"Character cannot be developed in peace and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved."
-Helen Keller
I love that quote!!! Enough said!

The Day after Thanksgiving Sale

Well, I stumbled across the coolest blog today! Check this out. www.davidruth.blogspot.com Incredible and amazing photos of the Antarctica! Makes me want to hop on a plane and check it out. I am sure the pictures do no justice compared to actually standing there looking around and hearing the sounds, smelling the air, etc.

Since Jamie is asking about the day after Thanksgiving sale, I guess I will post about that today. We arrived bright and early at 6am. Micki was ready to shop-til-she-dropped! I was still sleepy. There were not huge numbers of people in the mall as in the years past. I am not sure why, but it did get a little crowded as we were leaving in the afternoon. I thought last Saturday when we were there with the Pathfinders was worse than the day after Thanksgiving! OH, I did find one cool purchase! It was a ... ha! Made you read! Nothing special other than spending the day with my sister and the girls.

Not much to mention other than a few good sales (which I cannot mention incase the person I shopped for is reading) and me pokeing a woman in the eye. It was not the best "day after Thanksgiving" shopping day I've had. My sister stood in the check out line for 1 hour and 20 minutes at the Disney Store. She racked up to say the least! While she was in line there, Micki and I left to check out a few places. When we returned there was a line outside of the store just to come inside!! As someone exited, another person was allowed inside. Oh yeah...the ladies eye. As my sister entered KBToys, I went to point to a spot that I would wait for her and it happened that a sweet young woman (thank the Lord she was so sweet) and her eye were in the same spot as my finger. I poked her directly in the right eye. I felt so horrible!!! Don't worry, she was ok.

Now, the most memorable Day after Thanksgiving was the year my sister was pregnant for my nephew. We racked up and bought so much that the entire trunk was packed as well as the back seat of the Accord. My daughters were about 14 and 12 and were sitting in the backseat too. You know the scene where ET is with the stuffed animals in the closet and you cannot see him? That's what the girls looked like!! I still laugh thinking about it! To top it off, my sister bought a 4 1/2 foot metal giraffe for her collection (and a rocking horse for my nephew) that had to be put across the middle of the car. We thought we were gonna have to open the sunroof to put that giraffe's head out the top, but we made it home. Thank God we didn't get into any kind of accident that day! I sure wish I had a photo of us in the car! We laugh about that day every year!

Well, I have to run. I came across a cool verse. It is Psalm 4:4 "Don't sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent." If I could just get a grip on that verse. There's another one that goes hand-in-hand with it. It is Psalm 141:3 "Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; Keep watch over the door of my lips." That's enough to keep me thinking and practicing for the next year!! Have a amazing day and don't poke anyone's eye out!!!

Christmas Blitz!

As promised, here are a couple of pictures from Saturday's Christmas Blitz!! It was 12 hours packed with fun, laughter, and a hay-less hay ride?! I had the BEST chicks in my car! Such awesome girls!!!

We began the day Downtown helping in our community! We were able to spread the love of Jesus with a rake, a weedeater, and lots of hugs & smiles. :) Then we were off to the mall for some food and shopping. We found some great deals while we were there!!! From the mall, we went to see "The Nativity" (GREAT movie - go see it if you haven't already!!) and eat lots of junk food! I have to admit that I had to go home after watching that movie to read the account of Jesus' birth in Matthew and Luke to see exactly what it said. I had a different movie playing in my head so it was interesting to see someone else's point of view!

Back to the Blitz: last we ended up at Robyn's house for hotdogs, smores, pool, taboo, and a ride in the freezing cold! Crystal got the spa treatment while she was there! Needless to say, it was fun for everyone! Cannot wait to do that again!!! Enjoy the pictures!
