With Easter still fresh on my mind, I stumbled across a verse this morning that stopped me in my tracks.
"And I tell you, every one who acknowledges me before men, the Son of man also will acknowledge before the angels of God; but he who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God." Luke 12:8-9
WOW! This is about as deep as it gets. Jesus Himself says this. As He was teaching, the teachers of religious law wanted to trap him into saying something to use against Him. Jesus replied by warning the disciples and those present (which was several thousand) with several things including the verse above. I couldn't help but think about all of the people on this earth that verbally deny God. The conversations that take place where people actually state they don't believe in God. What eternal harsh consequences come with those simple words. Then I started wondering about actions in general. When we pick good over evil is that enough? Do our actions deny God? THEN God reminded me about ME! Do my actions scream with every fiber in me that I KNOW HIM or do they simply remain silent falling to the ground powerless? (huge pause)
Lord, when people look my way, may they see nothing less than You! May I be a reflection of Your love and compassion. Show me Your view of my actions...my words...me! Teach me Your way. Let me be nothing less than Your billboard constantly displaying Your message for this world...Your truth ... Your freedom! May my actions and words declare Your greatness! Praise the One who paid my debt! May I NEVER NEVER NEVER take that for granted! EVER! Thank You Jesus! I love You Jesus!
Mrs. Connie,
ReplyDeletethat was great, but I don't feel as good as I did when I first started reading, 'cause more than three times I have denied my Savior, not necessarily before men but maybe in the quiet of my room! So, I sure hope that you a verse for me, 'cause that would sure make my day!
Well, look at Peter... He did amazing things after he denied Christ. I think the saying "it's not how you fall down, but how you get up that counts" applies here. Peter chose not to stay down. He repented, stood tall, shoulders back and impacted thousands's of lives! Check it out in Acts...
ReplyDeleteconnie,
ReplyDeletelove you
you are awesome!!!
Miss you guys....
see you soon!!!!
Thanks, Mrs. Connie! Isn't there a verse that says "A wicked man falls one time, but the righteous get up seven"? Confusion, I know! Thank you so much for every time you have encouraged me, and you have no idea how big of an impact you've had on my life! Oh, Micki told about some of your 'dc talk and Audio Adrenaline concert' experiences at the delerious? concert! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteYep - there you go! See you didn't need me after all! You are such a blessing!
ReplyDeleteRegarding the concert stuff: Fun times for sure! OG is the one you need to talk to. Our family and the Crowe family went together. They made OG go on stage and dance (Audio Adrenaline). dcTalk is by far still my favorite I've been too. We took my (grown) nephews to that one at the Cajun Dome. AMAZING concert! Holy Spirit was all over that place!
