Instant what?

I think Jesus is pretty cool.  He's always at work in my life regardless of what it is that I'm 'working' on.  Lately, between church, the book I'm reading, the Bible study I'm trying to finish and the random thoughts of others, Jesus has led me on a journey of one common theme:  studying the life of Joseph.  Talk about preparation for the race?!  Joseph amazes me.  Sold into slavery by his own brothers, imprisoned for MANY years, and then put in a place of ultimate authority...  I wish there was a book in the Bible called "Joseph" telling all of the in-betweens that Genesis skips over (I think I might ask God to replay this on the big screen when I get to Heaven along with a list of others).  I'd love to know what all went through his mind during his "preparation" years.  What did he learn during that time?  What did he advise those around him in prison with him?  What were his weakest and strongest moments?

Sometimes I think especially living in today we get caught up in the Instant Gratification mindset.  I know I do!  I get aggravated waiting 20-30 whole seconds for an email to arrive or a page to load.  I love twitter, blogs, internet, cell phones, digital cable, and computers; all of which feed my need for the "instant".  However, several thoughts keep running through my mind:  Am I missing out on God with all of the "instants" in my life?  Are the "instants" keeping me afloat?  Is my need for "instant" distracting me from hearing the real voice I want to hear or from His adventure of each day?

So for the next 40 days, I plan to download more of Jesus and less of technology.  I want the adventure!  The GOD ADVENTURE!  I'm not sure how that's gonna shake out, but Jesus does.  The Plan:  Beginning tomorrow, I'm gonna log on to Heaven when I feel the need to sign in.  It will be hard, but if Joseph made it through years of prison, I will certainly survive a few days.  See you in 40!
